Many individuals think that places with higher structures that are perpendicularly erected are preferred while some believe that parallel buildings are more suitable. In my opinion, I believe that taller buildings are more beneficial for these could offer more space for tenants. Firstly this essay will discuss why high rising towers are popular to occupants and secondly, the benefits of living in a flat building.

On the one hand, construction businesses are in demand nowadays. There are quite a few numbers of high rising condominiums that are available on the market for they are affordable, yet offer reasonable amenities that tenants can enjoy. They can also appreciate magnificent views of the surrounding landscape if they live in a high rise building. For example, a survey by the Ateneo University in the Philippines in 2016 revealed that 76% of their correspondents would choose to live in a condominium because of its affordability and hotel like facilities.

On the other hand, flat buildings offer more space. Many individuals belong to a large family and that is why a larger area is needed in order to accommodate them.  These types of buildings are also safer than high rising ones for they can easily provide rescue operations in times of fires or earthquakes. For instance, an article in the Manila Bulletin in 2015 reported that fire rescues are more successful in low-level buildings versus high rising towers for they find it difficult to rescue victims on high-level floors.

In my opinion, I believe that taller buildings are more convenient for these only require a limited space for its area.  The higher the structure means that it can give more units which can provide a quality home for every family at an affordable price.  For example, a study by the Philippines Housing Authority in 2010 revealed that application for housing loans in condominiums tripled in 2009 as loans in acquiring townhouses dropped by 75%.

In conclusion, the higher the building means more spaces are available as more families are able to have a place that they can call their home at an affordable price.

HOW TO WRITE A DISCUSSION ESSAY

Take a look at the IELTS essay example below >>

Many people choose to ask their parents to assist them in taking care of their sons and daughters while others think that they need to nurture their own offspring.  This essay believes that parents and grandparents should work together to raise their family. Firstly, this essay will discuss the benefits of raising the children with their grandparents and secondly, the advantages of nurturing your own child.

On the one hand, parents nowadays find it difficult in balancing the time between work and taking care of their families. They seek the help of the grandparents to assist them in taking care of the kids because they need to work hard in order to provide the monetary needs of their family. This also can boost the confidence and give energy to the grandparents since they know that they are still needed, even if they are old. For instance, an article in the Manila Bulletin in 2017 revealed that grandparents are more likely to live longer while raising their grandchildren versus grandparents who live alone.

On the other hand, most parents would want to raise their children by themselves. They want to be there to assist their child in every step of the way for they believe that nurturing is very important in order to raise a responsible individual.  This practice can also strengthen the ties between family members, for they know that they will support each other no matter what.  Children raised by their parents are more likely to become more caring and have a positive outlook on life. For example, a study by the Child Psychology of the Philippines in 2015 revealed that children raised by their parents are happier and healthier versus children raised by nannies.

In my opinion, I believe that parents should raise their children with the help of their grandparents. They need to work together, for bringing up a child is a difficult job and they need each other in order to withstand the hindrances and problems that they can encounter. Children need a strong support system to help them conquer fears and reach their aspirations. To know that there are a lot of people who support and love you is a good weapon to survive the demanding world.  For example, in my own experience, I spent my childhood with both of my parents and grandparents and this made me a better person because I know that there will always be people who will love and accept me no matter what.

In conclusion, parents and grandparents should help one another in raising a child. They need the love, care and support in order to help mould them into a better and wiser individual someday.

Society

Some people believe that people behave differently when they wear different clothes, while others do not believe that clothes influence the way people behave.
Which opinion do you agree with and why?
Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

Take a look at the model answer.

Many people consider that the clothes you wear can affect moods and behaviours, however, others think that garments are just wrappings that protect and cover our bodies. This essay agrees that there are some clothes that can boost one’s confidence.

On the one hand, when people wear certain clothes it can boost their confidence and change their way of behaving. People with professional job titles like teachers and lawyers wear smart clothes when at work to exude an air of authority, as well as allowing their behaviour to change. this can also be said for those who wear uniforms in their work, like police officers and medical professionals, these clothes assist the people in turning into their job title and feeling like they are taking on a certain role. For example, in a study by Manchester University in 2016, they found that 90% of teachers felt they had more authority, respect from students and control when wearing smart clothes to work.

On the other hand, some individuals can feel empowered wearing any item of clothing. Some who are more practical may choose clothing for comfort rather than style or to fit into their job role. Many office workers for example may choose to wear comfy clothes if they are sitting at a desk for most of the day, or wear flat shoes if they have to walk a lot. Many choose their clothes for the environment they are working in and don’t need them to act in a certain way. For instance, Instyle magazine in 2016 released an article, which revealed that most office workers would choose to purchase clothes for comfort rather than to be in style.

In my opinion, I believe that the clothes you wear can make you feel as though you are fitting into your job role easily. They can give you the confidence and authority to behave in a certain way, whether it is lecturing a group of students or have business meetings with high profile individuals. For example, in my own experience, dressing smartly in a school when teaching, sets you apart from the students and commands more respect. It also allows you to feel as though you are in charge and have the confidence to lead your classes throughout the day.

In conclusion, I believe that we should always make ourselves look smart when necessary because this can boost confidence and can help people to be successful individuals.

In various nations, there are workers who bring in huge amounts of money. Certain people believe that this benefits their republic, while others consider that government authorities ought to regulate the wages of all employees. I believe that the government should not restrain the number of earnings for an individual, as this is the product of hard work. Firstly, this essay will discuss the benefits of high earners residing in a country and secondly the main advantage of taxing high earners.

One the one hand, those people who earn extremely high incomes are good for a country because they pay large amounts of tax. This helps to improve the country, as regular taxes from billionaires go towards improving the environment and paying for government workers monthly salaries. The large amounts of money that are brought by certain individuals can help a country to boost its economic status and make improvements to the surrounding cities. For example, The Economist reported in 2017 that the taxes in New York paid by The Rothschild family helped to boost the cities economic status by 95%.

On the other hand, a government that can manage the earning of its people can also be beneficial. Controlled income would mean that people could earn a said amount before being taxed on most of their earnings. The tax thresholds would be set to control the amount of money that people could earn during one year, so that the economy could prosper, from those who earn over a certain amount. For instance, HMRC in the UK reported in 2016 that people who earn over one hundred thousand pounds per year will be taxed at a higher rate. This rate then grows by 10% for earnings over that amount.

In my opinion, I believe that the government should tax those who earn obscene amounts of money, as this could be used to better the status of a country and go towards improving the everyday facilities used by society. Any person who earns billions should have some of that money controlled by the government, so that it can be distributed to local communities, to improve schools, hospitals and pay council workers salaries. For example, in an article from the BBC news in 2017, large amounts of tax from high earning Google CEO’s was used to renovate and update hospitals in the city of London.

In conclusion, the CEO’s, billionaires, and the government should cooperate and work together in order to provide a better and brighter future for its nation.

Many individuals believe that the government must finance free education for all while others consider that people should pay for their college education. I believe that if possible the government authorities ought to support the education of its people. Firstly, this essay will discuss the benefits of a government paid education and secondly the main advantage of paying for your own university diploma.

On the one hand, the cost of education is very expensive and for most students, this means that they cannot finish their higher education. This is true for most third world countries because most of its citizens cannot even provide for their own family nevermind their education. Being able to have your diploma provided by the government without any cost can help a family to survive the demanding world, as this can lead to a professional job that can benefit the economic status of a country. For instance, a study from The University of The Philippines in 2016 reported that 96% of its student scholars had landed a professional job that helped provide for their families.

On the other hand, paying for your own college education can be very motivating. This can help you realize that you are able to reach your goals by yourself, thus this can boost your confidence and so that you recognize you can overcome all difficulties that life may give you. In addition, you can also be an inspiration not only to your family but also to your community because of your achievement. For example, ABS-CBN in 2016 reported that 90 % of working college students are more productive and have a more positive outlook on life versus unemployed college students.

In my opinion, I agree that the government should give free education at all levels. This can help decrease the growing number of unemployed workers because a college degree is an asset to land the job of your dreams in order to help you provide for your family.  For instance, the Government of The Philippines reported in 2016 that 98% of their scholarship students had finished their college degree as opposed to 60% of students with regular tuition fees.

In conclusion, students need all the help they can get in order to survive in the job market and obtaining a college degree is one way of attaining the career, whether it is free or not people should be given some motivation to work hard for their goals.

IELTS writing task 2 question

Different nations are now facing the problem of ever-increasing numbers of juvenile criminals. Firstly, this essay will discuss the causes of this dilemma and secondly the possible answers to solve this challenge.

On the one hand, many adults would often use children to help them commit offences. This is because young children are not punishable by law, but rather they are only subjected to undergo seminars and training that would help them to become law-abiding citizens. In addition, being born into a poor family and having no education makes them susceptible to criminal gangs because they want to help their families and they think that it’s an easy way of earning. For instance, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Philippines in 2017 reported that 98% of the juvenile criminals are out of school youths.

On the other hand, the government and the community should cooperate in order to solve this problem. They should help the parents of these children by providing training and offering benefits that would supply a budget for their families. Free education should be also given to these children so that they can have employment prospects when they grow up. The government should also address the problem of overpopulation by allocating a budget for family planning because having a larger family means that one will have higher living costs. For example, a study by the Philippine National Police in 2016 stated that 95% of young offenders came from poor families with more than 8 family members.

In conclusion, children should be subjected to love and care and not be subjected to the evils of society. We should keep in mind that our children are our future and they hold the key to our survival.
