Some youths today choose to listen to songs on the radio instead of hearing news reports. This essay believes that this is an unfavourable way to use the radio. Firstly this essay will discuss the values of being updated with current events and secondly, the advantages of listening to music.
On the one hand, listening to radio programs normally include both music and news bulletins at intervals. To be informed about the latest happenings around the world is a must since this could affect us in one way or another. Young people from different walks of life should embrace listening to the news as well as enjoying music when studying or relaxing, as this should motivate young people to get involved with issues raised daily in the news. For instance, a survey conducted by the University of the Philippines in 2014 revealed that 90% of college students want to join organizations that can help make a difference in society, like getting involved in politics or the environment.
On the other hand, being a music lover can also be beneficial. Listening to music can help one relax and can relieve stress that can affect even the youngest minds. Music can cause relaxing stimuli that can encourage normal breathing patterns and assist in concentration. Listening to calming melodies can also aid in battling depression mostly in young adults for they can relate to song lyrics that can inspire them to win the battle of downheartedness. For example, a study by the Humane Psychology Society of the Philippines in 2013 discovered that by engaging through music therapy many teenagers who experienced trauma were able to survive the struggle of sadness.
In conclusion, in my view it is important to be updated about the events around the globe and it is important for young people, so that they understand what is happening in the world. This can also push them to become involved in politics, economics or helping the environment.

Automobile industries have declared the likelihood of having winged vehicles in the next few years. The fascinations of men to fly as well as the availability of modern technologies are the two main reasons for this possibility. This essay believes that this is a positive development.
On the one hand, flying cars have always fascinated people and attempts to build fully airborne vehicles, dates back to 100 years ago when the Wright brothers built their first aeroplane, but because of the lack of requisite technologies and technical expertise, this made flying cars an unreachable mirage. However, the presence of cutting-edge technologies today more than ever before makes some forms of flying cars a distinct possibility in the near future. For instance, according to an article published in the Car Magazine in 2016, it reported that Honda Motors Japan had already completed at least one test flight of their flying car prototype.
On the other hand, having a vehicle that can travel in the air could be very dangerous. Pilots who fly any aircraft are specially trained for many years before they are allowed to become airborne. For the general population to suddenly be allowed to take flight in a vehicle could cause tremendous chaos, as well as cause accidents. Without a proper flight plan and coordinated training, it would be difficult for ordinary citizens to navigate the skies and to control their course of direction. For example, the Department of Defense in the Philippines published a report in 2018 stating that they would only support the development of flying cars if the training for each pilot was intensive and completed over 2 years.
In conclusion, the advancement of modern technologies will give birth to a flying automobile sooner than people may think and because of this, the public will not just enjoy the ride but also appreciate the benefits that come with it.

Businesses devote millions every year to online commercials, print ads and posters. These advertisements can influence the public to purchase products that they don’t need in their lives. Firstly, this essay will discuss the main positive aspect of businesses doing well and secondly the primary negative effect of impulsive purchases.
On the one hand, the law of supply and demand is perhaps one of the most fundamental concepts of economics and it is the backbone of the market economy. The higher the demand means the greater the supply and on top of that it can provide employment to a lot of people. Furthermore, this helps in the improvement of the economy of a country becauseof its massive tax revenues. For instance, an article from Business Mirror China in 2016 revealed that 90% of Chinese job seekers had landed jobs provided by mobile companies while it increased their gross domestic product.
On the other hand, persuasive commercials can initiate impulsive buying. This is the tendency for a customer to buy goods and services without planning in advance, as a consumer takes such a buying decision in the spur of the moment, it is triggered by emotions and feelings and more often than not they would usually end up having a lot of debts. This is because they would use their credit cards or submit themselves to loan sharks just to buy the products that they thought they needed. For example, a study by Metrobank Philippines in 2016 discovered that 90% of credit card loaners who weren’t able to pay their monthly dues came from online shoppers.
In conclusion, consumerism may have obvious positive aspects like employment for some people, however having a large number of debts because of impulsive buying is a bigger problem because people will need to pay not only for the price of the product but the added interest as well.

Different nations are now facing the problem of ever-increasing numbers of juvenile criminals. Firstly, this essay will discuss the causes of this dilemma and secondly the possible answers to solve this challenge.
On the one hand, many adults would often use children to help them commit offences. This is because young children are not punishable by law, but rather they are only subjected to undergo seminars and training that would help them to become law-abiding citizens. In addition, being born into a poor family and having no education makes them susceptible to criminal gangs because they want to help their families and they think that it’s an easy way of earning. For instance, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Philippines in 2017 reported that 98% of the juvenile criminals are out of school youths.
On the other hand, the government and the community should cooperate in order to solve this problem. They should help the parents of these children by providing training and offering benefits that would supply a budget for their families. Free education should be also given to these children so that they can have employment prospects when they grow up. The government should also address the problem of overpopulation by allocating a budget for family planning because having a larger family means that one will have higher living costs. For example, a study by the Philippine National Police in 2016 stated that 95% of young offenders came from poor families with more than 8 family members.
In conclusion, children should be subjected to love and care and not be subjected to the evils of society. We should keep in mind that our children are our future and they hold the key to our survival.

Many people consider that oil rigs and gas businesses offer different job prospects for countless workers whereas others worry about the detrimental effects on the environment. This essay thinks that without strict monitoring from the government, oil and gas companies may abuse and harm the flora and fauna. Firstly, this essay will discuss the potential benefits of the oil and gas industry expanding and secondly, the damaging effect on the environment and lastly will suggest potential resolutions to solve the problem.
On the one hand, many investors want to expand oil and gas companies for this is a very lucrative business. This has made Saudi Arabia one of the richest countries, for they provide the major oil and gas supplies to the entire world and because of it, their economy booms and prospers which the whole country enjoys. In addition, it has also offered many job opportunities not only for the people but for nearby countries including the Philippines. For instance, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration in 2016 reported that over 1 million Filipino workers went out of the country to work in an oil and gas company located in the middle east.
On the other hand, the process of producing gas and manufacturing oil is a very strenuous task. Several machines drill the ocean floors or vast areas in the desserts to look for oil deposits, which more often than not can destroy the surroundings. It can also affect some of the creatures that thrive in the affected environment for their habitats are being destroyed. The atmosphere is not spared, for the oil and gas companies produce major air pollutants that can harm both the nature and the health of its workers. For example, a study by the World Wildlife Fund in 2015 revealed that 20 percent of the ocean floor of the Pacific Ocean had been destroying due to oil explorations.
In my opinion, I believe that a potential answer to this could be that different government officials should work together in order to construct laws that provide protection to the environment against abusive oil and gas businesses. They should also have strict policies and meticulous implementation of these laws so that companies are aware of the major consequences. For instance, The Department of Environment and the Natural Resources in the Philippines in 2010 revealed that 30 oil explorations in the Philippines sea had been cancelled due to the probable detrimental effects on the coral reefs in the area.
In conclusion, although oil and gas companies provide countless jobs for employees we should also consider the effects on our environment because the result of this is irreversible.
