Take a look at the IELTS Essay Writing Task 2 example on Transport below >>
In order to solve traffic problems, governments should tax private car owners heavily and use their money to improve public transportation. What are the advantages and disadvantages of such a solution?
Many people believe that problems in traffic can be resolved if the government imposes taxes on private automobile owners for the enhancement of public transport. Firstly, this essay will discuss the benefits of enforcing taxes to private individual car owners and secondly, the drawbacks in imposing such a law. On the one hand, traffic affects all people from all over the world. Governments should devise a strategy in order to solve this dilemma. To enforce taxes on private automobile owners would bring benefits because it can help increase the budget, thus can allot funds to improve the conditions of roads, railways, and public vehicles. This budget can develop streets and highways which in return can give more spaces for vehicles to pass through, also it can improve the traffic light systems because some of the road signs are defective and inoperative. For example, Traffic Bureau Manila in 2016 reported that it needed 60 million pesos to replace the traffic light systems in the whole Metro Manila because 80% of them are faulty and unreliable. n the other hand, the primary drawback of imposing more tax would create outrage from the vehicle owners. This could lower the number of car buyers, which, could affect the car manufacturing industries. When the demand is low, the car companies could dismiss some of its workers, making people unemployed. These types of taxes can also be a way for some public officials to use the budget for their own personal agenda. There are many instances from the news that some government officials have been exposed as corrupt. For instance, GMA News in 2017 reported that 5 Bureau of Tax officials had been involved in money laundering scandals. In conclusion, the pro of having a government vehicle tax budget can really help in the development of the public transportation systems, whereas the main con is that a rise in taxes could see fewer cars on the road, possible corruption and a higher unemployment rate.

Nowadays, it is possible to move ocean creatures from their natural habitat at sea and have them relocated in amusement parks for the purpose of people’s recreation. Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?
At the present time, many ocean animals are taken from their natural sea environment where they are placed in sea life centres/ocean parks for people’s enjoyment. I believe that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. Firstly this essay will discuss, the drawbacks of sea creatures being held in captivity. Secondly, it will also consider the main advantage in removing certain sea animals from their home to help survival rates.
On the one hand, it is very unfortunate if a creature is removed from its natural habitat, more so to its family as they are taken away and used for the purpose of entertainment. Many dolphins, sea lions and even orcas are being removed from their mothers at an early stage in order to train them so that they can learn tricks they will use during their performances. This can affect the lifespan of certain creatures since they are subjected to trauma and being confined in a small living area. For instance, a study conducted by WWF in 2016 reported that captive dolphins lived only for 10 years as opposed to, the age span of 20 years for dolphins who have lived in the ocean.
On the other hand, some sea creatures are being removed from their habitat for the purpose of scientific studies, as this allows scientists to help the population of the said animals to flourish by assisting them to procreate. They give them proper nutrition and aid them to combat certain diseases that affect their kind, in order to ensure species survival. For example, the Discovery Channel documented a study about the effectiveness of aiding the population of Dugong, an endangered creature in the Philippines by a local group of scientists. They helped to increase the survival rate of the creatures and released them into the wild.
In conclusion, although there are pros and cons in removing the sea creatures from their natural habitat and the drawbacks outweigh the benefits because even sea creatures need to be with their family and thrive in their natural environment.

Take a look at the IELTS essay Writing Task 2 example on Work below >>
Some employers want to be able to contact their staff at all times, even during the holidays. Does this development have more advantages than disadvantages?
Many company owners want their employees within their reach, not only on working days but also during their time away from work. Firstly, this essay will discuss the main advantage of having no contact with work during a vacation and secondly the drawbacks of how certain demanding jobs require 24-hour contact.
On the one hand, the main advantage of not contacting work while away, is that it allows the person to relax and recharge their batteries. Most jobs nowadays are very stressful and people need a break, wanting to spend their time with their family and friends. This can help them to relax and release the tension of a demanding job so that they can build their energy for when they return. For example, research conducted by UP Manila in the Philippines indicates that people who spend holidays with their families and have no contact with work are more productive when they return, which has a positive effect on the company productivity.
On the other hand, the primary drawback of being contacted by work when on vacation can mean dropping all plans for whatever emergency has occurred. Some professions, are deemed to be very demanding, in that they need to be able to contact their employees at all times. Often medical professionals need to be on call 24 hours a day in order to save peoples lives, regardless of any holiday time. For example, The NHS in the UK reported that during December 2017 over the Christmas period, they saw a 20% increase in the number of doctors who worked on Christmas Day.
In conclusion, although both employees and the companies they work for can both benefit from extra work being completed whilst a worker is on a holiday, it can also have a negative effect. This can add stress and pressure on the employees.

It is thought by some, that not all felons should be put in jail but rather they should complete community work. This essay agrees that lawbreakers being able to work in the community can be really beneficial. Firstly, this essay will discuss how allowing them to do this can benefit society and secondly, the importance of doing community work as a punishment.
On the one hand, giving work to those who break the law as an alternative to jail can have a good impact on their community. Many places have this type of program in place, making the workers clean up trash, sweep the roads and paint communal buildings. These jobs need to be done, but instead of paying council workers, using a free labor force in the form of criminals, is one way for them to pay back their debt to society. For example, in the USA it is common practice for criminals to complete 100-1000 hours of community service instead of jail time for minor offences.
On the other hand, doing community service as a way of punishment is a very good idea. This can help improve the environment of a city without costing the municipality a single cent as these services will be provided by minimal crimes offenders for free. This can also be an eye-opener for people because they will be tasked with hard work, making them repent and learn not to re-offend. For instance, an article by the Metro Manila Development Authority in 2014 reported that the numbers of jaywalkers dwindled rapidly when the City of Manila passed a city ordinance that rendered 30 hours of community service.
In conclusion, I agree that those who commit minor offences should be able to complete work in the community, to work hard, collecting trash, painting dilapidated buildings and sweeping the roads as a form of punishment. Helping the community should be their way of repaying their debts and learning not to re-offend.

It is thought by many that the administration should offer support to less fortunate individuals. This essay strongly agrees that the government should provide assistance to people who are underprivileged. Firstly, this essay will discuss the importance of aiding people who are deprived of employment or housing and secondly, the different ways of providing support to them.
On the one hand, one of the responsibilities of the government is to assist its people. Unemployment and homelessness are both currently at an all-time high in most countries across the globe, with many people looking for work and if unsuccessful finding themselves without shelter. The government have a responsibility to provide assistance in these matters, offering monetary support and temporary housing for anyone who is in need. For example, a program developed in 2015 by the UK government offers benefits to those who are unemployed, which also includes free accommodation to those who have none.
On the other hand, there are different ways to help the less fortunate. The government should provide free educational programs to those who are unemployed and need new skills in order to find work. Many people who have no job, no income and no housing are often people who desperately need support from the system so that they can survive. For instance, in 2017 London Borough Council rolled out a ‘get back into work’ program, which offered skills-based training to those with no level 2 qualifications.
In conclusion, the government should provide assistance to underprivileged people but at the same time, these people should also help themselves for it’s a two-way process to make it successful.

Take a look at the IELTS Agree/ Disagree Question Essay example below:
Custom and Traditions
People, who go to live in other countries should follow the customs and tradition of the new country, to what extent to do you agree or disagree?
Take a look at the model answer.
Many think that when a person migrates to another place they are expected to follow practices and rituals native to that place. This essay strongly agrees that we should follow and adopt the good traditions innate to the country as a way of respect. Firstly, this essay will discuss why we should value the beliefs of the country we are living in and secondly the negative impacts if we don’t abide by their rules. On the one hand, many people want to migrate abroad for they believe they can get a bigger salary and a brighter future for their families. It’s crucial that one should follow and adapt to the customary traditions of the country you move to in order to integrate into the culture. In addition, we need to appreciate other customs because this will help us to seamlessly adapt to new surroundings and make friends with others. For example, an article by the World Explorer in 2014 revealed that 80% of people who immigrate to the UK learn about traditions and customs prior to moving.
On the other hand, every country has its own set of traditions and customs. Some of these practices and rituals are somehow unusual to migrators because they are hard to follow and difficult to understand and as a result, certain actions can jeopardize the budding relationships that are built with them. This can also affect the image of countries outside of their culture, giving people the wrong impression as well as showing disrespect in certain situations. For instance, a news report by CNN Asia in 2014 showed a story about a Mexican family who migrated to Saudi Arabia that was forced to leave the country because they were found guilty of not respecting the Ramadan Traditions. In conclusion, I strongly agree that we need to abide and respect the traditions of any culture from any place because it not only allows us to adapt to new places but to make friends from all over the world.

Many people consider that the task of taking care of the ecosystem is the sole obligation of the government. This essay believes otherwise for the accountability should be shared among all people. This essay will discuss whose duty it is to protect and preserve the environment.
On the one hand, nature needs a total overhaul as it has been badly abused for the longest time. The governments from different nations are doing everything in their power to create and implement laws that will heighten the penalties for people who abuse the environment. However, it needs cooperation from the citizens in order to implement the different environmental policies. For instance, The Department of Environment and the Natural Resources in the Philippines in 2017 reported that the success of its program in arresting illegal loggers in Ormoc City is made possible with the help of residents along the mountain terrains of Mt Isagani.
On the other hand, more and more people are doing their best to save the environment. There are huge numbers of different non-government organizations that were formed because they believed that in their small little ways they could heal the deteriorating status of the planet. Many young adults are also interested in joining different kinds of fundraising events which uses the collected registration fees for the rehabilitation of certain affected areas. For example, Takbo sa Ilog Pasig in 2017, have gathered over 300 thousand runners with the intention to help restore the Pasig river. It collected almost 2 million pesos from its participants and benefactors.
In conclusion, I strongly disagree with the notice that the government should be the only responsible entity for the rehabilitation and protection of the environment. This is a difficult battle as it needs the cooperation of both the government and its citizens in order to help and heal the wounded ecosystem.

Many people believe that the administration must give an order to prohibit the operations of companies that yield toxic waste products without having their own garbage waste disposal treatment facility, to help minimize the detrimental effects to the natural resources. This essay strongly agrees that the government should impose this law in order to save the environment. Firstly, this essay will discuss the drawbacks of not having enough treatment facilities and secondly, the benefits of being strict, in imposing environmental laws that protect the environment.
On the one hand, countries need to compete with the demanding world of technology and development. They encourage investors to try and build different manufacturing companies so that they can help increase the improvements and gross capital of a country, however by doing this the environment is heavily affected. They are so focused on profits and investments that they are being lenient in managing the laws that protect the natural surroundings. There are a lot of rivers and lakes that are being polluted for the sake of monetary incomes. For example, the World Wildlife Fund in 2015 reported that over 100 lakes and rivers in Southeast Asia were polluted due to companies that throw their waste into these bodies of water.
On the other hand, the trend of protecting the environment is increasing. Nowadays, people are very much concerned about punishing companies that abuse the ecosystem because they know that the effects are irreversible and can harm the entire world. There are many companies that have been shut down because of irresponsible waste disposal. Some companies are obliged to build and manage their own material disposal and recovery facility, which recycles, limits and properly disposes of the toxic wastes that they produce. In addition, corporations are encouraged to create foundations that help protect the natural flora and fauna. For instance, an article by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in the Philippines in 2016 stated that foundations supported by non-government units are more successful in their endeavours in protecting the environment versus government funded ones.
In conclusion, the government, its people and their businesses should work hand in hand in order to protect and save the environment. Punishments should be given to those people or companies who exploit the ecosystem. Policies and laws should be applied to all or else, not at all.

There are a number of parents who consider that viewing television programmes is unhealthy for young kids while others consider that this is an effective and informative tool. This essay believes that a television can help a child learn new things, however, the parents should choose the kind of shows as there are also programs that are unsuitable for young minds.
On the one hand, a television is a learning tool that can help a child to be creative and be familiar with the world. It serves as a portal of information, for there are arrays of different informative television programs that tackle different subjects, which parents can use, as most of these are free of charge. Television can make learning more enjoyable since it uses cartoon characters that children love to watch. For instance, The Department of Education in the Philippines in 2016 reported that 90% of primary public school teachers in Cebu city prefer to have a television in their class to assist them in teaching.
On the other hand, there are also quite a number of TV shows that can corrupt the minds of some children. There are particular television programs that have adult themes including; violence, drugs and sex. There have been a lot of instances where children have imitated characters from certain shows and the effects have been damaging. Some have even been influenced by images and themes, which has led them to act out violently because they saw it on TV. For example, the Philippine National Police in 2017 reported that 75% of violent juvenile offenders testified that they were influenced by a television program.
In conclusion, although the television is an effective and informative tool for children, the parents should filter the TV programs that their children are watching for this can also introduce them to adult content.

Many people believe that the preservation of community libraries should be discontinued since there are numerous search engines, programs and apps that can perform the same purpose. This essay believes that public libraries are still very important because books are a more reliable source than the internet. Firstly, this essay will discuss the benefits of having free community libraries and secondly the detrimental effects of using the internet as a source.
On the one hand, libraries are a great place for assisting learning. There are many students who visit these kinds of establishments because they know they can find books that can help them in gaining specialist knowledge that can assist them in reaching their aspirations. In addition, many families from third world countries cannot afford to buy their own personal computer so students often do their assignments in the comfort of a free library. For example, a survey conducted by the University of the Philippines in 2011 revealed that 8 out of 10 Filipino high school students in Manila use the library to complete work using both the books and computers.
On the other hand, many students now prefer to use the internet as their main source of information. This is not always reliable, as most of the information found on the internet is either fake or written by unknown sources. When researching a topic, books are a much more reliable source, as they are often written by known academics or researchers. using sources found on the internet is often unacceptable in many schools and colleges. For instance, a report from the municipality of Manila in 2018 revealed that 80% of the residents used the public library to study, using reference books as their main source.
In conclusion, although computers have helped to make our lives easier they cannot replace the importance of having the chance to read books that facilitate improving one’s imagination. The government should continue to maintain the operations of public libraries for this is a vital place of learning for students and more importantly to children who belong to less fortunate families.
