There are numbers of men and women who insist for the administration to allocate funds for space exploration while some believe that there are more important projects that need to be addressed.  Firstly this essay will discuss the reasons for space voyaging and secondly, the detrimental effects of allocating funds for this exploration.

On the one hand, space is a mysterious place, that requires large amounts of money to explore. The government and many people all over the world think that there are other kinds of species that dwell in the far galaxy. They believe that providing funds for space exploration is needed and vital in developing the future of our own planet. For instance, a report from NASA in 2016 revealed that there is a government funded scheme that allocates more than 30% of taxpayers money to further space exploration programmes.

On the other hand, building a spacecraft that can travel through space needs millions of dollars. This can dissolve the budget set aside for more important projects that could help the world to improve its condition. The time that they spend on space exploration is no joke, as many astronauts often stay 10 years or more to study the galaxy and since that’s unfamiliar territory the chances of experiencing malfunctions or encountering danger are far greater. For example, an article by the Space Explorer in 2016 revealed that only 3 out of 10 of Russia’s space explorations missions are successful.

In my opinion, I believe that although it is interesting to know if there are other forms of life living on the other planets, we should give our time and invest our money into more important problems that our world is experiencing now. Problems like famine, climate change and population explosion are the ones that we need to address in order to heal the earth. For instance, a study by the World Wildlife Fund in 2017 discovered that by the year 2030 more and more species of animals will be extinct if people do not change their lifestyle and habits.

In conclusion, space exploration can wait. We should first take care and heal the only planet that we are living in for this is the only place that we are sure can sustain our race.

Free Time

Some people prefer to plan activities for their free time very carefully. whereas others think that it is a waste of time.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Take a look at the model answer.

Many people consider organizing events wisely during their extra time while some think otherwise. This essay believes that planning activities tend to be more successful versus unplanned ones. Firstly, this essay will discuss why people would allow time in planning an event and secondly, the reasons behind acting spontaneously.

On the one hand, planning is essential for any activity. Many people would want to plan their vacations because it requires time and budget in order to make it successful. There are a lot of activities available, which one can enjoy during our free time but we need to consider our working schedules, therefore we need to plan ahead of time. For instance, an article by the Travel Tours Magazine in the Philippines in 2015 reported that you could save as much as 45% off all vacation expenses if you schedule and plan your vacation trips ahead of time.

On the other hand, there is quite a number of people who enjoy being spontaneous. The enjoyment of living in the moment without thinking about anything is appealing to many. Sometimes planned activities get cancelled because of problems that may arise along the way and this is the reason why someone would take the chance and do things without any hesitations. For example, a survey by the University of the Philippines in 2015 revealed that 89% of the student correspondents would choose to experience an unplanned vacation rather than a planned one for they believe that it’s more exciting and less stressful.

In my opinion, I believe that to plan an activity is crucial to making an event successful. We need to consider the availability of the persons involved as well as the amount of money needed. This practice can also save money on the prices, as they are a lot cheaper if there is more time provided for the supplier to produce their products or services. For instance, a report by the Philippines Airlines in 2016 showed that airline tickets were 25% cheaper if you bought 6 months before your flight.

In conclusion, planning provides benefits. We should plan ahead because it can give us enough time to think of other strategies if our plan encounters problems.

Many individuals think that places with higher structures that are perpendicularly erected are preferred while some believe that parallel buildings are more suitable. In my opinion, I believe that taller buildings are more beneficial for these could offer more space for tenants. Firstly this essay will discuss why high rising towers are popular to occupants and secondly, the benefits of living in a flat building.

On the one hand, construction businesses are in demand nowadays. There are quite a few numbers of high rising condominiums that are available on the market for they are affordable, yet offer reasonable amenities that tenants can enjoy. They can also appreciate magnificent views of the surrounding landscape if they live in a high rise building. For example, a survey by the Ateneo University in the Philippines in 2016 revealed that 76% of their correspondents would choose to live in a condominium because of its affordability and hotel like facilities.

On the other hand, flat buildings offer more space. Many individuals belong to a large family and that is why a larger area is needed in order to accommodate them.  These types of buildings are also safer than high rising ones for they can easily provide rescue operations in times of fires or earthquakes. For instance, an article in the Manila Bulletin in 2015 reported that fire rescues are more successful in low-level buildings versus high rising towers for they find it difficult to rescue victims on high-level floors.

In my opinion, I believe that taller buildings are more convenient for these only require a limited space for its area.  The higher the structure means that it can give more units which can provide a quality home for every family at an affordable price.  For example, a study by the Philippines Housing Authority in 2010 revealed that application for housing loans in condominiums tripled in 2009 as loans in acquiring townhouses dropped by 75%.

In conclusion, the higher the building means more spaces are available as more families are able to have a place that they can call their home at an affordable price.

HOW TO WRITE A DISCUSSION ESSAY

Take a look at the IELTS essay example below >>

Many people choose to ask their parents to assist them in taking care of their sons and daughters while others think that they need to nurture their own offspring.  This essay believes that parents and grandparents should work together to raise their family. Firstly, this essay will discuss the benefits of raising the children with their grandparents and secondly, the advantages of nurturing your own child.

On the one hand, parents nowadays find it difficult in balancing the time between work and taking care of their families. They seek the help of the grandparents to assist them in taking care of the kids because they need to work hard in order to provide the monetary needs of their family. This also can boost the confidence and give energy to the grandparents since they know that they are still needed, even if they are old. For instance, an article in the Manila Bulletin in 2017 revealed that grandparents are more likely to live longer while raising their grandchildren versus grandparents who live alone.

On the other hand, most parents would want to raise their children by themselves. They want to be there to assist their child in every step of the way for they believe that nurturing is very important in order to raise a responsible individual.  This practice can also strengthen the ties between family members, for they know that they will support each other no matter what.  Children raised by their parents are more likely to become more caring and have a positive outlook on life. For example, a study by the Child Psychology of the Philippines in 2015 revealed that children raised by their parents are happier and healthier versus children raised by nannies.

In my opinion, I believe that parents should raise their children with the help of their grandparents. They need to work together, for bringing up a child is a difficult job and they need each other in order to withstand the hindrances and problems that they can encounter. Children need a strong support system to help them conquer fears and reach their aspirations. To know that there are a lot of people who support and love you is a good weapon to survive the demanding world.  For example, in my own experience, I spent my childhood with both of my parents and grandparents and this made me a better person because I know that there will always be people who will love and accept me no matter what.

In conclusion, parents and grandparents should help one another in raising a child. They need the love, care and support in order to help mould them into a better and wiser individual someday.

Society

Some people believe that people behave differently when they wear different clothes, while others do not believe that clothes influence the way people behave.
Which opinion do you agree with and why?
Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

Take a look at the model answer.

Many people consider that the clothes you wear can affect moods and behaviours, however, others think that garments are just wrappings that protect and cover our bodies. This essay agrees that there are some clothes that can boost one’s confidence.

On the one hand, when people wear certain clothes it can boost their confidence and change their way of behaving. People with professional job titles like teachers and lawyers wear smart clothes when at work to exude an air of authority, as well as allowing their behaviour to change. this can also be said for those who wear uniforms in their work, like police officers and medical professionals, these clothes assist the people in turning into their job title and feeling like they are taking on a certain role. For example, in a study by Manchester University in 2016, they found that 90% of teachers felt they had more authority, respect from students and control when wearing smart clothes to work.

On the other hand, some individuals can feel empowered wearing any item of clothing. Some who are more practical may choose clothing for comfort rather than style or to fit into their job role. Many office workers for example may choose to wear comfy clothes if they are sitting at a desk for most of the day, or wear flat shoes if they have to walk a lot. Many choose their clothes for the environment they are working in and don’t need them to act in a certain way. For instance, Instyle magazine in 2016 released an article, which revealed that most office workers would choose to purchase clothes for comfort rather than to be in style.

In my opinion, I believe that the clothes you wear can make you feel as though you are fitting into your job role easily. They can give you the confidence and authority to behave in a certain way, whether it is lecturing a group of students or have business meetings with high profile individuals. For example, in my own experience, dressing smartly in a school when teaching, sets you apart from the students and commands more respect. It also allows you to feel as though you are in charge and have the confidence to lead your classes throughout the day.

In conclusion, I believe that we should always make ourselves look smart when necessary because this can boost confidence and can help people to be successful individuals.
